The FINCB is a National Neurological Institute and for its monothematic mission its area of expertise in Craniofacial Malformations covers especially craniosynostosis, encephaloceles and craniovertebral junction malformations.Within the craniofacial team the following expertise is offered: neurosurgery, maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, pediatrics, intensive care pediatrics, anesthesiology, genetics, pediatric neurology, neuroradiology, psychology. All care is coordinated by the neurosurgeon, in charge of pediatric and malformative neurosurgery, with the support of the Neurosurgical Department Secretaries.All team members were involved in developing regional guidelines and standards of care in close collaboration with the patients'societies AICRA, AISMAC and AIMA Child. The Guideliens are published on the Regional Rare Diseases Study Group Website and have been applied also in other Regions.

The team offers fellowships pediatric neurosurgery, teaching for medical students, residents, referring pediatricians. Team members participate in the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery and Maxillofacial Surgeons to the European Craniofacial Society.
